Spring
Spawn begins in December and peaks January–March. Sight-fishing beds in the reeds is iconic. Shiners are a local favorite for trophy hunting.
Summer
Bass bury into the thickest mats by mid-morning. Punch rigs (1–1.5 oz tungsten) and frogs at first light. Wind direction and water levels from SFWMD control gates affect conditions significantly.
Fall
Excellent frog and punch bite continues. Topwater at dawn along reed edges.
Winter
Prime season. Water cools to the mid-60s and fish become aggressive. Some of the biggest bass of the year are caught December–February.
