Swimbait: Best season — bass targeting large shad. Match the size of forage exactly. Shad colors.
Lake: Winter bass concentrate on deep structure including channel ledges, main river channel, and deeper drop-offs where they remain relatively inactive. Slow presentations like drop-shots, finesse jigs, and suspending jerkbaits work best in depths of 25-40 feet.
Swimbait: Slow down the retrieve dramatically. Big fish are lethargic but will eat a slow-moving large profile.
