Lake Waccamaw represents North Carolina's second-largest natural lake, spanning nearly 9,000 acres. This shallow, saucer-shaped Carolina Bay lake is characterized by its tea-stained water and a rich mix of cypress trees, submerged wood, and diverse vegetation, creating ideal habitat for largemouth bass.
A wire-arm lure with one or two rotating blades and a skirted jig head. The blades produce flash and vibration that triggers reaction strikes from bass that may not be actively feeding. Exceptional in low-visibility water, around grass edges, over submerged structure, and during cloudy or windy conditions.

Seasonal Tactics on Lake Waccamaw
Lake: As water temperatures climb into the low 60s, bass move shallow to spawn around cypress trees and lily pads, actively biting soft plastics and topwater baits.
Spinnerbait: Best season for spinnerbaits. Slow-roll a 1/2 oz through shallow grass and over submerged timber in pre-spawn.
Lake: During warmer months, fish often retreat to shade provided by dense mats or deeper areas near sparse channels, responding to creature baits pitched into heavy cover, with early morning topwater bites also occurring.
Spinnerbait: Slow-roll deep along grass edges and main lake points at first light. Night fishing with black spinnerbait is excellent.
Lake: Cooling water temperatures stimulate aggressive feeding, with bass pursuing baitfish along vegetation lines and into creek mouths, making crankbaits, spinnerbaits, and soft jerkbaits effective.
Spinnerbait: Match shad patterns — white/chartreuse with willow blades. Cover water fast along shoreline transitions.
Lake: Bass typically relate to the lake's slightly deeper sections and dense submerged cover, where slow-moving jigs, shaky heads, or suspending jerkbaits fished with patient retrieves can draw strikes.
Spinnerbait: Slow-roll a heavy (3/4 oz) spinnerbait along steep banks and points at the slowest possible retrieve.
