Drop Shot Fishing on Dale Hollow Lake
Dale Hollow Lake · Tennessee / Kentucky · Southeast
Dale Hollow spans 28,000 acres on the Tennessee-Kentucky border. Crystal clear water and deep rocky structure make it ideal for smallmouth. Largemouth are also present in the shallower creek arms. The clarity requires light line and finesse presentations.
The drop shot suspends a soft plastic bait above the bottom on a fixed line, keeping it in the strike zone longer than any other rig. Originally a West Coast technique, it now dominates clear-water and finesse situations nationwide. Works vertically over structure or on a long cast.
